Nose
Correction (Rhinoplasty)
Many people turn to nose correction with the purpose of improving the
general appearance of their face.
During the pre-surgical consultation, the surgeon specifies the subject
of correction, the possibilities for the surgery and its limits.
Surgeries differ in their degrees of complexity. Both the size and the
shape of the nose can be changed by removing a bump, lifting the nose
tip, narrowing the span of the nostrils, changing the angle between the
nose and the upper lip, correcting any lateral dislocations of the nose
structure.
Rhinoplasty may relieve breathing problems.
Depending on the level of its complexity, the procedure can take about
90 minutes. It is performed under general anaesthesia. A plaster or soft
guard is placed on top of the nose for a week. Tampons in the nostrils
during the first 24 hours make breathing through the nose impossible.
The post-surgical period is totally painless. Early results are visible
in about 2 weeks, while complete recovery is achieved in about 6-12
months.
Temporary swelling and bruising around the eyes are observed, but they
fade away for about 7-10 days.
Two
control examinations are carried out: after the second, and then, after
the sixth month. In about 7 percent of the cases a secondary, minor
corrective procedure is needed.
